98 1.4 Problem with boot latch - Madjock72
Hi

I am having a problem with my boot alarm latch, when I am driving I get the door open light on the dash coming on/off. And recently my alarm system goes off when there is no one around. I know the latch is a bit dicky as when I open the boot and slam it closed the door open light goes off. Is there any way of checking the latch before I have to splash out on a new one.

check that the catch on the car (not the one on the boot) has not slipped down or become loose. if the boot is not closing properly then the lights will come on and of as you drive because of the movment. If that is ok check and clean the connectors between the boot and the car. also if the alarm is going off check that the boot is properly closed. any movment caused by the wind may be enough to trigger the alarm
