06 2.2 Glowplug problem? - ivrytwr3
Hey all,

Toady my wife was driving our 06 plate Titanium X 2.2 when it died on her. She states that the glowplug light came on when it died. A short time later she turned the engine over and it started and got her home.

When she got home i went out and tried to start it, but it just kept turning over. I left it a few minutes and it then fired up. I tried this again 20 minutes later and it was the same thing.

Any ideas what the problem is? Is it easily recifiable? Should i be taken the motor to a Ford dealer (all services are through Ford).

Thanks for looking!

The glow plug light shows that the engine management unit has foudn a fault.

If its still under warranty then take it to Ford to get the codes read, otherwise find a local deisel specialist. The fault could be any one of a number of things in what is probably the most complex fualling system ever put into a repmobile.

Will need a code read to confirm, but there is a known fault with the camshaft sensor on the Mondeo III diesels which causes these symptoms.

Google TDCi camshaft sensor. Quite a few hits.

booked in on Monday. Ford confirmed thst it still has warranty, but could not confirm if this fault was covered until they had a look at it.

Thanks for your help.

My car had to have an EGR valve replaced. This showed as a flashing glow plug light. It was an intermittent fault!
