2000 1.6 Clutch; cost to change. - steady.eddie
We have a W 2000 Focus 1.6 zetec and think the clutch is going, does anyone have an idea of cost and is this normal after 90000 miles? Thanks.

I replaced the (original) clutch on my 1999 V-reg 1.8i Focus at 74k miles and I thought I'd done pretty well, so yes - I would have thought that 90k is perfectly normal !

I was surprised at what I thought was a high cost for a clutch on a common, family car like the Focus - I had other work done at the same time, but I think the clutch portion of the bill was around £350 - that was at a local garage, using a non-Ford clutch.

IIRC - that included the clutch, release bearing and slave cylinder, which I was recommended to have changed at the same time.

I'd phoned many garages and clutch centres beforehand and that was around the cheapest quote I received.
