In these bleak times continues... How much discount is reasonable when buying any new model Fiesta? Have seen deals for approx. 10% & 15% OFF. Is that good or has anyone seen better? Lots of places seem to be selling them not just Ford dealerships...

A friend has just bought a brand new (not pre-reg) Vectra 1.9 petrol with all the toys from a main dealer on the road for under £9,200

He wasn't looking for a Vauxhall but it was such a fantastic deal he couldn't refuse

Think it worked out at over 40% discount

Vauxhall garage near us has a sign up "Buy one car, get one free". Not being in the market for a Vauxhall we did not explore further.

We have just bettered 13% discount on a new Fiesta.

Still remember the salesman's face when he told me they were selling lots, had a number of factory orders taken and the prices were going up 1st Jan. I looked around the forecourt counting the unregistered Fiesta's and replied "that is optimistic isn't it"

It probably rather depends on what the dealer has available, if you require a particular colour/model/options combination, expect the minimum, possibly less than 10%. On the other hand if you are happy to take what he has in stock, haggle for a bigger discount. If you are willing to take an 'old model' that stands unsold in the showroom, expect the best.

All Fords built are 'pre sold', albeit to dealers in some cases, so any unusual requirement will have to be built and you will have to wait for. Having said that, the dealers have a very good system to finding cars, though it might get delivered from a dealers at the other end of the country.
