Hi, can anyone advise please?
Battery flat, went to release bonnet catch but nothing doing, cable moves at lever end. How to get into engine bay?

Try getting someone to gently press down on the bonnet while you pull on the lever. Guessing the cable has stretched and hopefully by someone pressing down on the bonnet will be enough to relieve some of the tension in the bonnet catch for it to release. Once opened, tension up the cable. If the cable has snapped, then you're going to have to gain access to the bonnet catch through the radiator grille, or from underneath the car.

Cheers Dave, that was a good idea but didn't work this time mate.
The only way to gain access meant dismantelling the bumper assembly including cross member and plastic shroud, eventually I managed to get to the lock assembly. the cable was working but the mechanism was not.
I removed the lock assy and found one of the springs had corroded away at one end. Will get a new one next week.
A right pain of a job when all I wanted to do was charge the battery.
