I notice that the service interval for these cars is 2 years/20,000 miles. As I would only cover 12,000 in two years does this really mean the oil would not be changed for 2 years? Seems like a long time to me.

Correct. That's modern oil technology for you! You can of course request it to be changed earlier than that, but before you do, read HJ's FAQ No.14 (particularly the paragraph that starts 'If the engine comes factory-filled with special, very expensive recommended oil')

Culmhead, I have recently came into possession of one of these, and was asking the same question to myself. When the car was in for its 1000 mile 'check up' the service manager told me that as long as I check the oil regularly, and top it up when it needs it - with whatever is listed in the service book, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Comments on the 207 owners forum, google it - don't know if I can include the link here, suggest that the 12000 service is a bit of a rip off with figures close to £100 been banded about for what is really only an oil change - which depending on who you ask, you may probably don't need.

Suppose it comes down to how much you care / want to spend, and how long the car really will be owned by you.

As an aside, I'm old fashioned enough to want the thing looked over every 12k any way so may pop in to have everything checked over. The other forum mention numerous times about brake pads being popular at 12K so possibly another cost you may wish to consider.

Will give a proper owners view of my 207SW when I'm further along than the current 1500 miles. I know there are lots of comments about the PSA BMW engine and the like so think I should report to everyone. (Sorry- didn't mean to hijack the thread.)

My 407 Coupe has 2 year/20'000m intervals. It's just 12 months old and has covered 8000m. Peugeot offer a free 'check' at 12 months. They check/top up the levels, check brakes etc etc. Just had mine done with no problems revealed.
