According to the Mondeo forums, Ford has just announced a software update for 2.0 TDCI MK4 Mondeos have a stalling / cutting out problem either on cold start or sometimes simply when depressing the clutch.
Some owners have found that the engine cuts out at low rpm, on the approach to roundabouts etc.
Some say it's a clutch sensor issue, but anyway, your local dealer should have details.

This does not bode well.
So they write a section into the software that forces the engine to keep running when certain conditions apply. They can really only go on sensor data and if a particular sensor is de-facto asking for the engine to be shut down, there must be a reason.
They have not fixed the reason, simply over-ridden the sensors signal to the electronics. This can only backfire as it will be the customers who test this software upgrade and usually find out to their detriment that something costly fails.

but if the threshold for the sensor was too low and it has been raised to cure the problem , not just bypassed , i dont see the problem
