3 litre (lpg) Different oil used when serviced - Humperdink
I just had my Jag xype 3 litre (lpg) serviced at my usual dealer, who had recently been taken over by a new owner.

I noticed that instead of the usual 0w40 they had used 5w30 I know his is what jaguar had recomended in the begining but can i expect any difference in performance because of the 5w30?

I just feel a bit more reassured with 0w40 or am I being paranoid?

Thanks

Paranoid

It'll go faster (or be more economical).

0W-40 will give slightly better protection than 5W-30 when cold, but will probably be too viscous when hot. Modern engines with finer tolerances than years gone by do need "thinner" oils.

If Jaguar recommend 5W-30, then use that - there is a 5W-30 version of Mobil 1.

Nothing in it really.
A lot of makers have shifted to 30-weight oils. Fuel economy is the main driving factor.

It's a Ford engine;use Formula E;it's a fraction of the price of Mobil 1.
