Snow Chains - Jtp
Anybody with experience of fitting snow chains to a Galaxy (or any MPV )? Autow Warehouse seem like a reputable place to go, when you enter the rim and tyre size (215/60R/16 in this case) there are plenty of warnings to check with the manufacturer to see if snow chains are suitable for your car. Apparently most manufacturers will say that snow chains are NOT suitable but this seems to be a handwashing exercise in case something goes wrong. So can they be fitted or not?

Most manufacturers say "NO" because of limited clearance between the wheel, suspension and brakes;they usually only recommend fitting snow chains to one size of wheel/tyre and that is not the large, low profile most modern cars are supplied with.

RTFM - it's important to find this sort of information directly from the manufacturer.

If you are looking at travelling through Germany , Austria you need to consider snow tyres before you even think of chains.

Snow chains in Austria should carry the approved DOn or ON symbol which you see on this website:

The url also shows the blue sign which says that chains are mandatory.

Hope you do not mean studded snow tyres because they are an absolute no no in Austria and Germany.
