Cavity sealing wax has leaked out of the drain holes on my car's tailgate and run over the paintwork, unpainted plastic bumper, and painted plastic fairing below. Any suggestions on what to use to remove it please?
BTW, I recently tried removing sticky label residue from the dashboard using isopropyl alcohol since I thought it wouldn't attack plastic. Wrong!
Anyhoo, well done on the new site.

Phil, have you tried white spirit / turps substitute? That should dissolve the wax and won't harm any plastics or paintwork.
Something that I've found useful in removing adhesive-residues (as left behind when lifting sticky labels) is Swarfega. This is gently rubbed in then removed with a damp cloth.

Sounds like a Mk2 Golf!
I owned one of these years ago, and I think I shifted most of these marks by just rubbing with a dry cloth, but I was never too particular - the car wasn't concours quality.
I would have thought white spirit would shift it.
Guy Lacey will probably have the answer!

Close Andy - Mk3! I'll try the white spirit as you both suggest. Thanks also for the swarfega tip.
