Daytime running lights - a requirement in Saab's home country. Has this only recently started, or has it done it throughout ownership by your dad? A mate of mine who used to work for Saab mentioned that a lot of customers don't want the daytime running lights and it was just a simple case of pulling the relevant fuse in the fuse box.
some vents blow cold air and some hot .
Again, is this recent, or has always been the case since ownership? Which vents in particular? The centre face vents on my Vectra (for all intense purposes - the same company, GM) only blow cold air, regardless of the heater setting.

Think you've got a problem there DD, should blow hot if the settings on hot.

Correction - they do blow hot. I was thinking of a previous Vauxhall of mine. You had a setting "warm feet, cool face" where the lower vents blew hot, but the face vents blew cold when the heater controls were set in a particular way.

West Midlands Saab Specialists are at Erdington, just off the M6. Not used them myself but they seem to have a good reputation and get good recommendations on the Saabscene forum.
