1993 VW Golf Auto - Failed Emissions MOT - sisue
My L reg Auto Golf (1993) 1.8 has failed its MOT today on the emissions test. Not particulary unexpected as has black smoke coming from the exhaust! Garage useless and told me to go to a Bosch dealer. Does anyone have any ideas? Its been garaged for a month but still starts easily from cold and runs well. Is it likely to be something expensive?

You need to change the oil ,filters and stick some injector cleaner in it or a pint of petrol then take it for a good long har run prior to the retest.

A Golf 1.8 is a petrol engine. The car needs to be code read, codes cleared, driven and code read again.
