We've got an old L reg Xantia as a spare car. We have the radio code and the radio asks for it every few days. However i've loaned the car to my uncle while he's over from Spain and he's managed to put the wrong code in!
We have no books for it, and have no idea how to proceed from here. It is still showing the incorrect code that he input. He left the radio on for a couple of hours and it didnt sort of reset itself after then. The unit is a plain big fascia'd radio cassette, I think its a Clarion but can't be certain.
Any suggestions?

Citroen usually use Clarion in the Xantia. My CD changer is marked Clarion but the radios aren't.
If it's any help, here are the instructions for the 3035 and 4035 units from my handbook.(1999 model)
Finish inputing the wrong code.
Press the BND button until the display shows "CODE IN"
inpute the correct code.
This can be done 4 times before the system locks up.
To unlock, leave radio on for 1 hour.
Start again.
It looks as if you have a fault on the permanent live supply to the radio.
Hope this helps.

A MK1 Xantia will have a Blaupunkt radio fitted, but makes little difference. If it's a 2030 radio (cassette below the display) then the code is entered using the relevant numbered button, and if the correct code is entered then it will accept the code, otherwise, press the band button to enter the wrong code - you should then get another go. If it's a 3030 or 4030 (cassette deck above the display) then the code is entered with the first 4 numbered buttons only (ie press 1 twice for 2 in the first space) then press 6 to enter the code.

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....

Thanks very much both of you for your help. We now have a radio working again :)
