European Paint Directive 2007 - mfarrow
Hi

Having just read about this in this months Practical Classic mag, I was wondering if any backroomers could shed any more light on this? Anyone in the industry?

How far does this legislation go? It seems very worrying to me, like it's going to see the end of all aerosol sprays in Halfords etc. being sold. Does this include touch-up kits and force people to go to a body shop to fill a stone chip?

I'm damned if I am going to take my car to a garage so they can charge £50+ to spray up minor areas, which are insignificant on a 17 year old car, but get rusty even so!

You might not have that option.

"Will the European Paint Directive, which comes into force in 2007, cause more bodyshops to close?"

Recent meetings of the FBHVC Legislation and Fuels sub-committee have drawn attention to the European "Paint directive", which if adopted without amendment will lead to the discontinuance of manufacture of a number of paint finishes currently widely used in the restoration of historic vehicles.
