hi,i have a 2002 matiz,38000 miles,only running on 2 out of 3 cylinders.leads and plugs ok,compression test ok,no access to a reader just yet,any ideas?thanks in advance.

If compression is OK then either fuel or spark is missing.
Is plug getting wet? Wet plug = spark missing; dry plug = fuel missing. Don't run it if the plug is wet - won't do EGO sensor or cat any good.

plug removed from offending cylinder very healthy spark not intermittent.compression defo ok

Probably a faulty fuel injector. It does seem to be fairly common on these for some strange reason....

where abouts are injectors and can you check them?

The fuel injectors are mounted on the inlet manifold, and each injector uses a two pin plug connector. A Noid Lamp fits into the connector plug and can be used to check to see if an injector is switching. Alternatively a voltmeter or dwell meter can be used. Use an ohmeter to measure each injectors winding resistance.
If all three injectors pulse similarly then the injector itself on the cylinder which isn't firing must be suspected......

i dont mean to sound stupid, but being a novice may not be able to do that.are there 3 injectors and if so can i swap them to ascertain if the cylinder runs?

Simply disconnect each one in turn. The one that makes no difference to the overall running of the engine is the one that's not working.
Then maybe swap them around (beware of fuel spillage). If the misfire then moves to a different cylinder you've confirmed an injector fault.
I've seen a few Matiz' with a faulty injector so don't be too surprised if you've got one gone. I don't know what actually fails on them, as Bosch injectors have used extensively for more than 30 years and the number of failures I've seen I can count on one hand...

yes,railroad,fuel injector problem.a bit dear £97 but going great again.problem now though,how do you turn of the warning/check light on dash?

If the fault has been fixed, then the warning light should go out of its own accord. As it's still on, it would suggest a fault is still present.

hi, i have a 2003 matiz ,32000 miles had a misfire, 0n 3 but my comp was down so striped down engine burnt seats on valve sorted that , checked rings, none in country, but managed to sort something, got it back togeather, guess what still misfire, spark their, so now next step injectors, with your discription, it looks like mine might be the same so i am going to give your instructions a try and see if it solves my problem as well, forums like this are great.
