Suzuki Jimny - DMH
My girlfriend is thinking of buying a used Suzuki Jimny. Has anyone got any information on things to look out for or any common problems? Are they economical to run/expensive to fix?

I suggest you have a looksee in the CBCB, on the left hand side of the screen.

It all depends on your Girlfriend. If she is alittle large on the top half, Jimnys tend to be abit bouncy (Hard ride/stiff suspension). A Vitara might be a better choice allthough they are bigger than the Jimny, but have a better ride.

My wife had one for a while great fun but : as we had road calming humps ride was terrible , very narrow wheelbase and hard ride.Very difficult to get into rear seats and little room.Little luggage space with rear seats up.Check 4wd light comes on when engaged to ensure 4wd works we had vacuum pipe probs.Ensure recall for gearbox pin has been done.Look good with extras available and leather interior. Not too good for motorway or constant long runs but exciting nippy jeep in town.

Personally speaking, unless you are only doing short journeys, and will use it off road I wouldn't touch one of these with a bargepole!Bought a new one about two years ago,and had major problems with the gearbox, that Suzuki claimed was normal.
Along with that 50mph is your top whack on a windy day on a motorway..thats if you can hold on to it at that speed.Bumpy,no boot space, horrible example of a 4 x 4.I dare say they are reliable..didnt' keep it long enough to find out

How much should I pay for a hard top Jimny up to about a 2000 plate?
