Got a squeak on the front of my MK 2 Golf, had it for ages it doesnt get any worse and its intermittent.
Often comes on when I have turned the wheel right or left, but always goes off if I depress the brake pedal, often comes on again immediately I take foot off brakes or disappears for a while. Car just MOT'd last week and all brake pipes replaced, squeak mentioned to mechanic but he said he couldnt find anything wrong and didnt hear anything when he drove it. Steering bushes not faulty either
Anyone any ideas?????

Could it be the brake shims?

ADAM what are brake shims
Thin strips of metal that sit between the brake pads and caliper. They're actually called anti squeal shims - for obvious reasons.
