I am not normally given to praising insurance companies but had to to say how pleased I am with More Than.

My sister and husband who live overseas have had to return to UK and are staying with us while she receives hospital treatment at a specialist hospital some 20 miles or so from us for the next 6 months.

I can use my company car so I asked More Than what it would cost to put BiL as a named driver on my Civic so he can drive her to hospital and explained the circumstances. He has held a licence since 1956 and is 68 years old.

The answer - Nothing, Nada , Zilch, same excess as SWMBO and myself until the renewal date in January.

Well done More Than -

My question is would I have received the same answer from other insurers?

In short, yes.

Have been doing this for a few years, adding housemates / relatives onto the insurance as and when necessary and have never had a bump in the premium.

Well I have to say I was surprised.

I was expecting a charge at least £10 or £20 for administration cost of altering the schedule etc.

You got More Th>n you expected - all credit to the company.

Pity its insurance cover would cost me more than with DirectLine.

I have just switched after extensive searches to MoreThan from Esure. About 10% cheaper than them and 20% than DirectLine.

2004 Premium for the new Nissan Primstar van was around £368 with 65% NCD (or equivilent discount) with RSA via a broker.

Broker "lost" my trust when they tried to fleece me over a policy I couldn't run on the new vehicle. Mark (RLBS) put me right on that one and save me over a hundred when I challenged them with the help of the underwriters.

Had a little bump with the van to the tune of around £2k plus vat. I needed to change the policy temporarily to a vehicle that the dealership lent me. I chose to go straight to RSA (who run More Th>n as I felt that the broker would want to fleece me again. RSA charged me nothing to change it then change it back 10 days later.

Renewal quote came through with only 45% NCD - lost a little with the £2k claim.

Premium - £339.19 - Around £40 cheaper!

In addition they have insured the trailer FC, which is towed by another vehicle for the annual premium of £77.14, which is a lot cheaper than the £225 I have been quoted by a trailer specialist.

In addition I wanted the trailer covered for the month or so left until the renewal date. They would have charged me pro rata but said they wouldn't bother as the amount of money was so small, so it was covered for the remainder of the policy FOC!

Other insurers - have a good read and take note!

I am seriously considering them for the other 2 cars as well - although my broker for these has always done sterling service.
