How much more expensive is the tax on a £40,000+ car?

What are the long term and short term cost differences between two different specs of the same new car, one retail priced below £40k and the other retail priced over £40k? Ignoring any discount that may be available making both below £40k.

As an example Citroen C5X PHEV Plus and Max. Both of these are available new for below £40k because of discounting, however the list price of the Plus is below £40k and the list price of the Max is over £40k

Taking the C5X PHEV as an example and assuming the purchase is completed today, under the 2024/2025 VED rates, the Plus version will be charged £10 in the first year, £195 in the second year and in subsequent years £195 plus an increase based on the RPI, assuming no other changes to the rates are implemented. For the Max version which attracts the premium rate based on the list price, the first year rate will be £10 with £590 payable in the second to sixth years of taxation, again assuming no other changes are made to the rates.

I ordered a VW Tiguan Allspace in February 2022, I kept the list price with options below £40k to avoid the high car tax surcharge. The car is still on order but the new list price is now above £40k....
