USed Honda Civic VTi - Alex147
I am thinking of buying a Civic 1.8 Vti, they seem good value and offer decent performance.
Does anyone have any thoughts\experiences of the car?

comments much appreciated.

Buy it!

I had a VTi as a company car and thrashed the daylights out of it for 70 or 80 thousand miles in 2 years. The shocks were, erm, a bit tired to say the least but the engine was as sweet on the last day as it was on day one.

Honda parts aren't cheap, but these cars have become so popular (and rightly so) that you can easily source parts from elsewhere these days. I would, however, want to see a wad of receipts and matching stamps in the service book to confirm that it had all its regular servicing done at a Honda main dealer. As tough as these engines are, they aren't something I would want to see serviced outside of the specialist network.

The interior is rather low rent, but just open the throttle and everything else fades into the background. At 8,000rpm they absolutely sing.

Its a Honda - I would say go for it as No Dosh advises depending on age and service history.

Honda's are pretty much number one on anyones list for reliability and friendly dealers.

Not cheap if things go wrong but see how many threads you can find in technical which say My Hondas gone wrong.....
