At the moment it'd have to be my Alfa 145 cloverleaf. Lovely little car, put a smile on my face all the time.
It could possible be supplanted in my affections by the Coupe, but it'll be a long process I think, and she's definitely not there yet.

Toyota Celica Mk5. Still own it as 2nd car. Superbly engineered and a delight to drive with performance and reasonable economy. 108000 miles now and never failed me. Sounds good, looks good, in bright red but not worth that much to sell -- yet --- perhaps one day in the future value will rise. It just feels like it will last forever. Have to keep polishing though -- Red!!!

Fiat 124 Sport - hired for 2 days.
Lovely twin cam engine revved like mad and was a boy racers delight. Wooden steering wheel, alloys/sports seats.
No problems - only 2 days use - wonderful memories passing everything with 6,000rpm and lovely exhaust noise.
No doubt rusted away in 5 years...
BMWs and Mercedes, Lotus Elan.. can't touch the memories...

Nissan QX SE Auto YOM 1996. Utterly reliable no breakdowns, service items only replaced during 5 years of ownership.
Quiet, refined, comfortable and relaxing. A bit boring, but not a bad place to be sitting if you've got a long drive ahead of you.

Proper Mini! Had a 1992 Mini, 1275 carb engine nothing too OTT. Always started first time, great fun to drive, cheap to get serviced etc. Will own another one, one day!

My old XJS just because it?s as close as I?ve come to fallng in love with a car.
Or my current 605 which has given me so much and yet received so little in return. In 6 years never once coughed, chugged, spluttered, fail to start (apart from battery at end of life), failed to deliver or let me down in anyway whatsoever. In return I?ve given it the scarcest of servicing or washing, the minimum of affection, barely a sniff of oil... in fact, I?m going down to the garage to give it a big kiss. Met the current Mrs Big Bad Dave in it too (while still with the X Mrs Big Bad Dave) so it?s seen a fair bit of hanky panky. Happy days...

1995 Primera eGT. Bulletproof, doesn't go wrong, only service items required, pulling well with 165k miles under it's belt. Still on original engine, box, front shocks, wheel bearings etc etc.
Handling on it is excellent as well. Just a minor pity that Nissan hadn't sorted out their rust protection in 1995 so unfortunately, despite it being an excellent car, I shall be parting with it. And I shall miss it.

53 plate (new shape)
subaru impreza wrx STI. in black mica
the fastest, sure footed car i have ever owned.
just the sound of it send shivers up my spine
1 bad point, petrol, used to drink it like it was going out of fashion ;-(
even if you have to blag a day driving it from a dealer, just do it, you will have a smile on your face for the whole day and thensome!

Ive owned 11 cars in the last 7 years and without a doubt the best was my 1990 (G) Vauxhall Astra GTE 2.0, It was only a 8v but the acceleration was outstanding, If only I could have found a decent 16v one. I suppose the chances of that now are virtually zero, as all mk2 astra arches rust like nobodys business!
Anybody who has driven a GTE will never forget it, a truly rewarding experience, and the best thing was i only payed £220 for it!!

85 Polo 1.3 Formel E. Totally sentimental reasons. First car after graduating. Was 10 years old- but looked immaculate- close friend even checked number plate as didnt believe was that old. Only had it for a few months. As soon as I got a 'proper' job replaced it for the ZX that qualifies as my worst car.
Not the most exciting car in the world- but got a lot of fond memories of this one.
On a sensible note current Mondeo is an excellent car- but will I miss it when it's gone? Probably not- yet still have very fond memories of the VW nearly 10 years after selling it.

I nominate several:
1) My Rover Mini Cooper (1990), my first car after leaving uni and getting a proper job. Brought a smile to your face on every journey. Still own it, although it is in storage currently.
2) Subaru Impreza Turbo estate. Fastest car I've owned. Glorious noise from flat-4 engine. No air-con and heavy thirst counts against it.
3) Best All Rounder = Saab 9-5 I've just sold, it did everything well (although did nothing brilliantly), Fast; comfortable, practical, reliable etc., the Volvo D5 I've replaced it with might take over its mantle due to better economy (although performance is down slightly).
4) Best 'Dark Horse' = Although not technically mine, I did drive the vehicle in question for the duration of one summer as a student. It was my father's 1990 Peugeot 406 'Style' saloon. A bottom of the range Special Edition, but it was only 6-months old, and was painted an elegant grey colour with the Mi-16 bodykit, so looked anything but.
No electrical windows, mirrors or steering. The engine was the 1600 with twin choke Solex carb, 0-60 10sec dead, and it rode on 165 width tyres. The throttle response was fantastic and the performance more than enough for someone used to a one-litre Metro. The legendary 405 handling was amplified by the excellent unassisted steering and narrow tyres. A wonderful motorcar.

1991 VW Corrado G60. Owned it for a year, 1992, and sold it just before new tyres and a service were due.Oh and the insurance renewal quote had just doubled the premium. A good time to swap the car (for a Polo Genesis Coupe IIRC)
Superbly comfortable and stable to drive , never ran out of grip and went like a rocket. No problems at all.

I wasna fu but just had plenty.

V6 Mondeo, just shades Focus Ghia. Focus would probably have won if I'd bought a 2 litre petrol instead of the TDCi. Brilliant cars in the real world, you really don't need any more.
SWMBO's A6 probably better but I never get to drive it.

It has to be our Xantia 1.9 TD. I drove my wife and friend to Manchester airport yesterday (about 90 miles) and, after the recent service and two new Avon tyres on the front, it is driving as well as ever. It isn't as quiet as it used to be at 80 mph but one can still have a conversation with passengers without raising one's voice.
