Fiesta warning light - Doc
A friend has a Ford Fiesta (latest model).
The car is suffering with a severe lack of power and the "ERC fail" warning light is showing.

What does this mean? Any ideas?

The car is in Limp Home mode. Take to Ford dealer and get them to hook up Diagnostics. EAC means Electronic Accelerator Control, but EAC FAIL means either the pedal sensor has failed, or most proabably a sensor that is important for emissions, or function of engine management system.

I am told that the car worked perfectly normally the next day.

I spoke to Ford HQ who told me that the on-board software is able to correct certain faults such as this.

So it checked for faulty wiring, ordered the part and fitted it itself while you slept.

Who says computers aren't putting people out of jobs? :-)
