My 2000 year S80 2.9 at idle first threatens to stall then piles the revs on. In addition I get an occasional dashboard message stating that an emissions service is required. I have checked the emissions and they are OK. Could the Lambda probe be faulty and is it easy to find and remove on the 2.9? Any other ideas gratefully received.

Does the car only do this at start up or at other times when the car is idle (say at traffic lights when the car is warm?)

Thank you, I should have said it occurs when the car has warmed up, traffic lights is a good example.
