any suggestions on the cause of a non start punto, its a v reg mk 2 1200 8 valve with 10k on clock, checked for belt snapped,ok we have fuel and lots of it, we have spark, checked all engine management fuses. Iam informed before it packed in, it was running poor, no power spluttering etc, then it broke down. We have good fuel pressure at the rail although not tested with a pressure meter. It would appear to be flooding,as i put a new set of plugs in because the old ones were soaked, but the new ones soaked after a few turns of engine. Any help would be appreciated as all the ingredients are there for it to run.
cheers.

This could be an ECU fault Expensive but talk to BBA-Reman.com who may lend you one. I would replace the crank position sensor before spending big money. You say you have checked the cam belt but did you check the belt has not jumped and the cam timing is now wrong, I would revisit that first. Regards Peter

Check for coolant loss:
it will have difficulty starting with coolant in the cylinders.

Head hasket failure after routine coolant change is almost the norm for these - not bled carefully enough, localised overheating..

Oh, I forgot.. check _both_ coils for spark - they fail too.

Sounds like something simple. Suggest reboot the ECU by disconnecting the battery and while diconnected unplug and replug all engine management connectors. As mentioned crank sensor might be guilty otherwise borrow a ECU from a fellow punto owner.
I have had a couple of these cars and they are capable of very high mileages if looked after.
Please let us know what happens
Good Luck

Thanks for suggestions, just to update, had the ECU read for faults and one code came up, code P0105 which I am lead to belive is the inlet manifold pressure sensor. Not sure if this would give over fueling but thats what I\'ve got. Hooked it up and towed it today, it started but would not rev/pickup and as soon as the towing car stopped moving or I dipped the clutch, It just chucked it.
anyone any Ideas on the pressure sensor?
Regards
Big Davey.
