Hi, i have a Ford Fiesta 1.1 M Reg car.
I recently changed the steering rack, when i drove the car next, i noticed the airbag light was flashing on the dash. I needed to have the tracking done, so wilst i was at the garage i asked about the airbag, the guy told me to take the battery off for a an hour, and that should reset the airbag. I unhooked the battery for about a day. Its still flashing. Any ideas?
Thanks
Emlyn

From what you're saying, sounds like you need to Pop into a garage and have the light reset.

Not sure if it's the same for the Fiesta, but on the Mondeo there's a yellow connector plug under the passenger seat that sometimes becomes detached if the seat is moved a long way back.

Hi got same problem on my daughter's 96N Fiesta, this time only one flash then starts over again 5 secs later. Another site suggest that this is the main driver's bag (nothing new as there is only one bag) Four quick flahes means pre-tensioners wiring may have come loose. Disconnected driver's wiring and yes the warning lights flases 4 times-proof.
Anyone any ideas what one flas could be, looks like expensive trip to Fords?? rcr.

one flash of airbag w/light indicates a fault to drivers a/bag circuit. The most common fault being the "clockspring "coupling behind the steering wheel is broken.(a common occurrence after the steering rack/column has been repaired.)The steering wheel has a limit to the number of turns it can be rotated, beyond this limit the clockspring snaps. They are cheap enough to replace ,about £35.There is no reset procedure on this year of car,if the a/bag sysytem is sound ,the light will go out by itself.

Many thanks, looks like the problem and managed to locate a specialist chap near to home who confirmed the same. He will arrive with the clockspring and fit next Tuesday, much cheaper than Ford's. rcr
