Autotrader doesn't seem to have much around my neck of the woods. However a search brings up a 1996 P 1.9TDi SE with 97k for £4695.
I don't really see why there is such a premium over a similar age Passat, but that's only my own opinion.
As will all sales, the car is only worth what someone wants to pay.
I'd pay £4200 depending on spec.

I'm after a quick valuation, but for what someone would expect to pay from an honest, trustworthy, good-looking dealer working from home, i.e. me! So with warranty, good nick, properly valeted, etc.
I agree with you, seems a hell of a premium to me, but each to their own.
Spec is pretty basic, no air or leather, and the alloys are aftermarket so may well reduce value, not add.
£4200 is what i had in mind too.

No a/c and VAG's red goes nasty after 5-6 years, I'm not sure the car is worth more than £3,500.
