Hello.
I have a 2002 406 HDi 110, where reverse gear is next to first. There is a rough feel and noise when moving the gear lever from its rest position across the 1st/2nd plane.
Is this a matter of lubricating the gearlever assembly or something more sinister?
The 60,000 mile warrenty ran out a couple of weeks ago!!
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

If you have good relations with the dealer, ask them to have a look, it will probably be free if you have used them before.
My C5 has the same engine and gearbox and is a bit notchy / almost impossible sometimes to engage 1st.
I'd also consider changing the gearbox oil.

Not sure if Peugeot and C5 would have the same linkage - doubt it. The C5 has (non lubricated!) cables and some batches of early ones were not quite the correct spec. Citroen upgraded them under warranty. I don't think the Peugeot has cables - but really don't know.
Of course the Austin Maxi was ground breaking in its use of a cable linkage.........I understand they were horrendous!
With the C5 you'd never know you were stirring around cables!
Is the clutch OK?

How about the ball joint at the foot of the lever? Maybe even just a bad gaiter fouling up movement.

Could be your link rods, £ 28 for all 3. just popped on a ball on the linkage.
