anyone else irritated by the amount of space regularly taken up by graphics on HJ's advice page in Sat's Dly Teleg? OK, a picture works well to break up slabs of text, but today's "extravagant" shot of roads uses five of the seven columns and, overall, consumes as much space as the valuable questions and info - and the shot is hardly needed in such proportion to highlight one question about BMW diesel engines. Also a waste, I suggest, is the first column introducing HJ, which has six inches of empty, white space underneath. Page design requirements apart, use of smaller pictures would surely suffice and allow much more text to be used. Forgive my rant - not aimed at HJ, but the subs!

Presumably there isn't anything more suitable available to fill up the space, given that this week there's a letter from someone who apparently needs to write to a newspaper to learn that his clutch is slipping?
The whole section is pretty thin really - who needs to hear about a MINI from a qualified former Eastenders actress?
Reprinting the Ripley articles would be more relevant. Or buying up some LJKS stuff?

Yeah, maybe but Michelle Colins ain't a bad bit of skirt ;-)

Bring back Ripley and some more of "real motoring" journalists, like HJ or the much missed Rutherford, less on gums.

on the top left is a link to motoring telegraph if you want to get your opinions noted.
from there you can use "contact us" link to send your comments to daily telegraph.
is it correct to presume that hj would get paid more for every extra inch that he writes?
or is he on a loser if the telegraph only pay him a fixed fee per week despite answering more letters?

Have, indeed, copied my comments to DT - I canna believe there are not enough readers' questions to fill more space each week. Also doubt tt HJ is paid "per volume" (as space can vary, depending on pagination/ advertising volume) and more likely to get fixed fee. Amid present Hollinger/Lord Black legal turmoil, hope whoever turn out to be new owners of DT appreciate strength of HJ following, thanks to wealth and depth of expertise he brings.

prefer you raw, HJ - I take your points.... wozn't suggesting no artwork, just less but (as you say) design's out of your hands!
