Same as its appeal to everyone else, mainly style and bang for buck. Along with, in the case of the V8, soundtrack.

How easy is it owning and running a Ford Mustang?

Insurance would probably be a big stumbling block to a young driver. Beyond that, not really much difficulty. Not really a car to do big miles as it isn't that efficient, but engines are tried and tested so should be reliable enough. And as an official Ford UK model, parts supply shouldn't be an issue.

If you are thinking of going in to Mustang ownership, which would be a good entry level Mustang to own?

There are only two official UK models, the 2.3 turbo or the 5.0 V8. If you can afford the bigger purchase price and running costs, there doesn't seem much point in bothering with the former.

Which Ford Mustang do you consider to be the greatest of all time?

Most would probably say the one from the film Bullit (1968 GT 390 if memory serves). But I'm quite partial to the original 1964 shape.

My Camaro was brought in by a USAF servicewoman which she used whilst stationed here, selling it on before flying home at end of tour, dare say a good number of Mustangs as well as other US cars arrived in similar circs.

There were dealers specialising in importing cars from the USA, just as there are some who bring in Japanese domestic market cars and others that can't normally be found here from all sorts of places, long may the free thinkers buy and enjoy them.

Thanks for the comments here. Some of them are really helpful and give a good insight. The first official imports to the UK were on 2015. However, the Ford Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain founded in 1979 with a couple of owners who had met up at Santa Pod with their Mustangs. Hence the question about the first imports, I'm guessing they came in to the UK in 1970s at some point but who brought them in?

You probably need to define whether you mean official imports by Ford UK or grey imports by enthusiasts and/or US servicemen - in the case of the latter I'd expect that every single year of production has been imported to the UK by US servicemen since they had access to US-market products through their Post Exchange (PX) at US prices!
