2018 ford fiesta ST Line 20k milage - Fiesta no power - Redcar01

Hi All

My wife went to the car to go out and opened the car with the remote , the car screen lit up then went off and the car has no power at all, only the Garmin dash can light in the ODB was flashing quickly, I had to lock the car with the key manually. Is this a battery issue please.

thanks

Very much sounds like it . Anything been left on ? At 5 years old, it’s probably the original battery.

So as a follow up on what happened , The AA came out and condemned the battery and wanted to replace it at £260. I went to local battery specialist as they had a branded one for £114 but they tested the battery and said it was ok just depleted. Either i have to use the car more or put it on charge once a month. Its beeen ok since then so i will not be replacing the battery.

In the same type of problem i was told my cars battery needed changing at service 12 months ago, its still going strong and no problems.

I think modern cars are more likely to be 'alive' even when switched off. I had this problem with my 2005 Audi A8 which is now rarely driven. Its computer is always on, sensors alert, e.g. interrogating itself every so often to see if it's level and moving air around the suspension if it isn't. Battery lasted a mere 5yrs or so. So I hung a Halfords battery charger on the boot curry hook and plugged it into a weekly time clock to give it a boost for 4hrs every Mon,Wed &Fri. If we go away for longer than a week I disconnect the battery.
