Ford Fiesta Mk 5 (2003 1388 cc LX (UK)) - Power Assisted Steering Fluid Dump - MattyKo

Hello

Advice sought my vehicle has the tell tale sign of fluid loss, due wet patches on floor. These are predominantly around about the front near side wheel. I think it is attributable to the Power Assisted Steering.

Firstly, is this assumption correct or could it be something else?

Secondly, have been adding Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and most recently additionally "Wynn" Stop & Prevent (WSP) Leaks Fluid to the Reservoir.

Due to the time difference between the introduction of the Wynn Stop & Prevent Fluid (WSP) into the mix, and therefore the ATF been at the bottom of the system, will it possibly resolve itself - more optimistically- might it resolve itself ???

Alternatively, due to the age of the vehicle is it too expensive to repair.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Very possible that the steering rack is leaking. But you’ll need to get the car up in the air to confirm this. The stop leak is only a temporary repair. It may reduce the fluid loss for a while.

Have you checked what the fluid on the floor near the wheel is? Are you sure it is ATF not brake fluid? Is the appropriate reservoir showing any loss? IF you are using the car be very careful.
