At the local Costco, diesel (supposedly 'super' grade) was £1.72.9 this morning.

Now showing with a 6p reduction to £1.66.9

Indeed, it will likely take a few days to be reflected in pump prices as the duty is charged on on the wholesale price paid by retailers, and most of them will have yet to buy fuel at the new lower rate.

Duty goes down on fuel in the forecourt while red diesel is scrapped for most industries, he gives on one hand and take with the other as per usual.

Just a reminder that the full reduction should be 6p/litre (5p + 20% VAT)

Just filled up my van at Costco at £1.669 / litre (72 litres ~£120)

Its costing me just over 5p per mile extra for fuel as this time last year (~£88), i.e.+36%.

Today's rocket attack on the Saudi Oil facility in Jeddah is not going to help fuel prices.

Most of us know that the major fuel suppliers to the public, are greedy bar stewards and have "blamed" taxation for the high price of fuel, this latest episode of reducing tax blows all excuses ( not reasons ) out of the water and confirms that they will rob us at every opportunity to line their pockets.

I refer of course to the recent cut in fuel tax, and while some have passed 100% of this onto us, the AVERAGE according a news report states is less then half at about 2% being passed onto customers acros the country.

So BP, Shell and Esso I say to you get out of that one if you can.

But people do not help themselves by going to the cheapest places, I live in Littlehampton and use the A27 all the time but I am always amazed that the petrol station on this road is being used despite there being a Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda, all of which charge less then this petrol station. we all know that motorway services always charge even more, yet they are busy because people do not fill up from home ? Is this laziness on the part of the drivers ? because they do not want to do a small diversion to cheaper places ! Or some other reason ?

If the public are willing to pay more then they need to for fuel, then they have no reason to keep prices low.
