Thumbs up for the old guys! - badbusdriver

Came upon this great video clip on Youtube showing a ratty but otherwise standard looking (except for the roll bar) 1948(!) Willy's Jeep negotiating a couple of fairly extreme off-road situations.

Not bad for a 70 year old (and who needs LandRover's fancy pants 'terrain response system' anyway?!)

Certainly impressive, I suppose being very light gives an advantage. Not much protection for the driver should it flip over. I used to have a S2A Landrover although never got as far as rock-climbing!

I'd go for a Jimny or Grenadier instead of a L-R product.

I do have a soft spot for an old Landy, ideally a bit scruffy looking!.

Re flipping over, I remember reading a magazine article years ago on the tiny Steyr-Puch Haflinger as used by (amongst others) the Austrian military. Although very capable off road, its dimensions meant that they would tip over quite easily. But such was its smallness, 4 burly squaddies could pick it up and put it back on its wheels!.

Or anybody. Quite a few 70+ year olds on here who probably think they still have their driving marbles!

I have never driven a marble. I assume it's a small car?
