Pinking - Sebastian Meakin

BMW 525T is pinking between 2-3000 Rpm in hot weather. Parts replaced include Vanos unit, lambda and air temp. sensors, knock detectors, ultrasound cleaning of inkectors etc. Any ideas really appreciated

Are you sure its pinking and not a similar noise or vibration? Is it worse under load? Can you reproduce when stationary?

Thought modern cars ECU altered timing to prevent pinking and they have a sensor to detect it.
