Gotta smile.

When renewing this years policy for the sportage, negotiated direct, and a reduction for the lower usage last year, (which you have to ask for specifically! ) premium became same as last year before cashback and today received an "extra" £15,92.

Well done Mersey VIC....(otherwise known as LV)

net premium £ 164 .

I've just renewed with LV . 5% discount for having House insurance and another for being a member of Boundless.
LV have overtaken NFU this year as the no1 a Which recommended company but I'm hoping things won't go downhill if the main company is taken over by Bain Finance.
Direct line have also improved their position this year. Again another company that deals direct and no cut for the comparison websites.

That seems to be their favourite price for us more mature drivers. My insurance is coming up, so got a quote from them.

Sorento with towbar - £165

MX-5 - £160 (no extra charge for BBR mods should I go ahead with them)

Civic Tourer - £160

(all assuming the boundless and multicar discount. I'd let my boundless membership lapse so will need to rejoin).
