Hello, I have a 2007 fiesta zetec s 1.6 petrol.

My gears feel notchy and stiff especially when the engine is cold. The gears feel stiff even with the engine off sometimes. If I hold the clutch down and put it into a gear it feels notchy but when I take it out of the gear and back into the gear again with the clutch still down it goes in a lot smoother. I have changed the gearbox oil using castrol 75w90 which is recommended in the manual.

What could be the problem?

Have you thought of lubricating the gearchange linkages ? That can make a difference.

Yeah I might give that a go. How would I go about lubricating the cables if they are sticking?
