Hi all,

A mate of mine is about to come into some money and is going to treat himself to circa 24k's worth of VW Golf R, the lucky sod!

With warranty in mind he's pretty much decided to get one from VW main dealer.

My question is: how likely is he to be able to negotiate some discount on the forecourt sticker price? And what could the argument be to do so?

There must be some room for manoeuvre when someone walks the door with 24 grand on the hip surely?!

Depends on the dealer, the car and your friends negotiating skills.

And what could the argument be to do so?.

Er, pretty obvious, I don't want to pay the sticker price.

But don't get too hung up on the sticker price, if your friend has a PX its the price to change that actually matters.
