Hi guys, so recently changed a rear wheel bearing on my focus, once that was done my OH noticed it was making a noise on his way home from work. I get the auld boy back and yeah he sounds like a cross between a tractor and a space ship. So my OH jacks him up at the weekend takes the drums off and replaces new shoes and spring kit as he noticed the clips on the old one were broke and thought this could have been making the noise.
Anyone who has had the sheer joy of owning the old focuses will know that any job requires the good old trusty hammer, after much bashing to get the drum back on we figure we are good to go.
Now before we replaced the shoes when we turned the wheel by hand we could hear the noise, after we replaced the shoes and turned the wheel you couldn’t hear it. So take the car a run around the block and couldn’t hear anything. But later while going to town the minute I get to the main road the noise is there, but now I have an abs light and handbrake light having a disco. I parked up stuck the handbrake on and tried reversing, the handbrake is working fine it is holding the car. The light goes on and off when handbrake is released and engaged, it’s just decided it will come on while driving and the abs light has decided it wants to join in too. Brakes appear to be working fine as well, havnt felt any changes to them.
The wheel bearing was a abs bearing (made that mistake with the front ones, this idiot bought non abs ones then wondered why the light was still on) does anyone have any ideas? This car honestly will be the death of me with it’s many ‘issues’ ?????

Yeah deffo sure, double checked before it was put on, and besides that when I put non abs on in the front abs light was on all the time not just on and off.

brake fluid low ?
Will check that this morning, was too dark last night. But that wouldn’t be the cause of the noise though surely?

Well OH checked handbrake cable, there was some slack so he’s tightened it back up and run the car and said the lights never came back on, I’ll find out myself this morning. As for noise it’s still there. Nothing more can really get done till weekend then it’s wheels off again and strip it back down.
