My sons car failed to start at work this pm. He’s a key worker. I need to drive to him and jump start it. Haven’t done it for years. What’s the safest way to do it with leads please?

Firstly, make sure you have a good set of jump leads . Secondly, does either car have stop start or smart sensor on the negative post of the battery?

What year is it?

Best call one of the breakdown services, as if you fry anything it'll cost a lot more

OR google susuki swift year.. manual/auto. whichever and the engine and jumpstarting that particular car.

Otherwise you may well find it in the handbook.

Jump starting is easy, buy a good set of leads. Cheap and always works. If unsure how to do it check out YOUTBe instruction videos.

Cheap Chinese crap leads can melt and damage both cars.

Other option is a small( fit in a glove box) battery pack, with connectors, ( Screwfix, Amazon have them, as well as other hardware shops) buy a pack with the correct amp rating for the car. My son has one for his Landrover Defender and it works a treat. He has only needed it once but has helped out a lot of friends with it.

Thanks all. Called recovery in the end and he was prioritised as a key worker. Strange how it started this morning, started at work to come home but failed when he stopped after a mile it so to get some exercise. Breakdown guy said that’s typical and all he’s attended all week.
