Hyundai i10 - Hyundai i10 heavy clutch - Chirpy99

Hi, my I10 has just been for a service at the Hyundai dealer and they have said the car has a heavy clutch which should be changed. They want £600 to change it. The car has 74000 miles . How long would any of you guys wait to change this? Will it go for another few years with this condition? This clutch has been in for about 60,000 miles.

Thanks

It’s not a new car , so you would expect some wear and tear . I’d leave it until it breaks or becomes undriveable . Could be another 60k miles time?

I'm unsure how this clutch operates, but before i spent any money i'd go around with an oil can or aerosol grease and apply a little at every pivot or moving point in the system, starting at the pedal, if its a cable clutch try and feed some oil down the cable itself.

I shouldn't need to say but someone will pipe up otherwise :-), avoid getting any lubricant on the clutch itself.

I know such things seems obvious, but you try getting out of some of our lorries, the drivers of which nor the mechanics who service them appear to realise that rusting door hinges don't make for easy opening doors, and a drop of oil now and again makes a difference, whoda thought it.
