Citroen Xsara Picasso - ‘Ignition key left in’ message - Neil Whalley
I’ve recently had a new ignition barrel installed due to a snapped key in old barrel. All works well apart from nuisance message appearing despite key not being in barrel. Does anyone know if a single fuse can be removed to disable this message and if so which fuse? Thanks, neil

There probably is a fuse to shut off the key warning, but it is likely to control other functions also. Was this problem present before the barrel replacement?

No, the problem started when the barrel was replaced. I should also have said there’s an audible warning tone emitted when the message is displayed. This is what I want to remove if possible, rather than the visual message on the dashboard display.

Its possible the barrel replacement has caused some damage to the COMM2000 unit.

There's a bloke in Bradford who repairs them - either in person, or you send it in the post.

But before that, have you done a BSI reset?

AFAIK the key in message is triggered by the immobiliser picking up the presence of the chip in the key. I wonder if the garage has taped the old key to the barrel to allow the engine to start, rather than actually changing over the chip to the new key....

You won't be able to turn this off, as it's an integral part of the BSI.

Yeah, that’s what they did. Just have to live with it then I suppose!
