Ref the question ' Pressing matter'.
The comment about left foot braking on automatics.
Will the automonus city braking prevent a runaway incident where the accelerator is pressed instead of the brake?
I have a Kia Niro with this automonous braking feature, and because the parking/emergency brake is foot operated I do not consider left foot braking an option.

Peter

Whatever the merits of left foot braking on automatics may be, the brake pedal position on most cars is clearly designed for right foot operation. To brake with the left foot on my Mazda CX-3 automatic requires an awkward and unnatural movement.
Until manufacturers redesign their pedal layouts on automatic models, I cannot see that left foot braking will be adopted by the majority of drivers.

I always assumed that the 'double with brake pedal on automatics was to accommodate the use of either foot?

Sparing a thought about purchasing BMW spare wheel you finished your reply:
(Suspiciously outstanding value for money, but safe paid by PayPal.)
I've purchased from Promotorukgroup twice, and have found them to be responsive with excellent customer service.
The spare wheels were for Mini Cooper and a Vauxhall Corsa, seem's legit to me, and we all love a bargain!

While it may be safer to brake automatics with the left foot, you can run into trouble with some cars. For example, the Nissan Leaf. If you're manoeuvering one of these in a car park and happen to press both accelerator and brake at the same time, the car's electronics can go into a freeze mode in which the car will not move for several minutes. My partner had endless problems with this phenomenon. Eventually she resorted to right-foot braking.
I've noticed, too, that the instruction manuals of some automatic cars advise against left-foot braking. For example, our C4 Picasso with EAT6.

Left foot braking, how do you apply a foot operated parking brake if you stop on a hill and have to do a hill start if you left foot brake. Serious queston as i rented an automatic car recently and it rolled back slightly on a hill when i went from foot brake to parking brake despite it being in drive ?
