nissan qashqai/manufacturer or my fault? - clutch judder/32k miles Nissan Qashqai - tony clay

Hi, I am on second lease of above car from Wessex in Bristol. Clutch juddering at 32k/18 month old and dealer says I have to pay for investigation (£550) and from there if manufacturer error they will pay, if not I pay for new clutch (£850). Will it be clear that it is either manufacturer error or me? I am business high mileage driver and know I have not slipped clutch,/driven with foot on clutch, which they are suggesting could be cause. Value your help.. thanks.

If its a diesel could be that the clutch has just got 'roughed up' through not being used at high revs, try slipping it gently with a few revs as you pull away a few times, that will often effect a cure.

Not sure if this will relate but on my old Nissan (not a qashqai) I found there was a lot of judder when pulling away. Turned out to be the gearbox mount had perished causing the whole car to shudder as if the DMF had failed. Wasn’t noticeable when trying to wobble the engine by hand from the top but get under the car and just check that first, could be an easy fix.

Just another thought, could be oil contamination on the clutch plate. If so this should be covered under warranty.
