Athermic windscreens - zacepi

Hi,

I have read several articles about how athermic windscreens stop a phone's GPS working. I use and rely on google maps for satnav ,so this would be a complete no-no for me. I am looking at a car with an athermic windscreen (Alfa Giulia) - can anyone who actually has one of these windscreens put my mind at rest....or otherwise?

cheers

I use a bluetooth gps for google maps etc (as I use an old phone that doesn't have gps built in)

this says you could put a wireless bluetooth receiver near the rear window?

"I have a Bluetooth GPS, can I place it on a back parcel shelf, or near another window ?

Yes you can, some people do this. Remember that Bluetooth data will only be sent over a couple of meters, so it's not ideal for all vehicles, but most cars when they do have an Athermic windscreen, do not have Athermic side or rear windows, so in most cases you could try this first before purchasing a patch antenna or a re-Radiating antenna."

Cheers

I thought all Giulias have built in satnav.

Ok thanks LIam (I guess you spelled your name wrongly!)

To the other reply - no satnav is as good as google maps for traffic reports. on 99% of my journeys I know exactly where I'm going, I just need satnav for live traffic. I've tried lots of built-in, garmin and tomtom and none of them match google maps.
