Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate - Used MB 2yr service 6/52 overdue - implications? - Robert Purbrick
I'm considering buying a used E-class estate. It was first registered on 4/6/15 and serviced (at a MB dealer) on 26/5/16. It is being sold at an independent garage and has just had their standard vehicle check last month, but the 2nd annual service remains outstanding.

If I buy the car, I plan to have it serviced at a MB dealer ASAP. Do you think I'll have any problems regarding the remaining manufacturer's warranty due to the ~7 week delay in the second annual service?

Many thanks,

Rob.

Yes. Most manufacturers allow 1000 miles or 4 weeks.

Personally I'd leave it. Independent garages aren't set up to service and maintain modern cars, and certainly not a high spec one like that. You'll find yourself throwing money in all directions as soon as the car goes wrong. Consider lease hiring a car instead. It's definitely the way forward. You have fixed monthly costs and maintenance won't be your problem.
