Picked up my 14 plate tourer in m sport spec with 19" alloys .
On the first wash I noticed the front and rear tyre sizes are not the same?
Fronts are 225/40 r19
Rears are 255/35 r19
All run flats is this normal on BMW's?

Yes, a staggered setup is normal

Ok where can I find the manufacturers recommendation?

Ok where can I find the manufacturers recommendation?

How about (in the order that is likely to get the quickest answer and avoid going far)

looking in the manual

or

Looking for a sticker under the fuel filler flap or in the drivers door aperture

or

If all else fails ask a BMW dealer

Thanks skid pan for your attempted humour but as a well educated person I have tried these to no avail (that's means without luck)

To add to Skidpans perfectly reasonable suggestions you can put the reg into Blackcircles or similar tyre websites and you will get the recommended tyre sizes.

You are obviously not looking in the right places. I can assure you that my BMW handbook contained all the info and tyre size options/pressures were on a sticker in the drivers door area, or maybe under the fuel flap. If there is no sticker I would guess the car has been repainted and the sticker not replaced.

As for well educated are you not aware that you don't have 2 capital letters at the beginning of your christian name but you do have a capital letter at the beginning of your surname.

Yes there are the pressures for all different tyre sizes but if you read my original post properly I was wanting to find the recommended sizes. Try to use 'do not' rather than don't, poor grammar

So are your combination of tyre sizes listed, if they are its the correct OEM fit. Any change from OEM will need the approval of your insurers and you will need to check with BMW that they will not cause any clearance issues.

I can tell you for an absolute certainty (because I've just been out to my car and looked, with a torch) that if you look on the drivers side B pillar the data is there, clear as can be.

I assume you've got something like the 403M wheels. If you have a look at the sticker on the B pillar, it gives various sizes, depending on the wheel size. So just look at the sizes given for 19" rims.

Oh, and the sizes you've got on there are the standard tyre size (and yes, bifferent front and back) for that wheel size on an MSport 3 series touring.

Great any advice on whether you have to have run flat tyres? This is my first BMW!
BMW 320d tourer - New car tyres? - RobJP

Run flats are OEM - i.e. specified by the manufacturer.

If you want to run 'normal' tyres, you MUST inform your insurance company and get their consent.

I personally use run-flats, and HJ recommends that they are used. Changing a wheel on the hard shoulder of a motorway is a very quick way of getting killed.
