Vauxhall Combo 1.7 Di - 2004 - fuel blockage / intermittent Black smoke - E17

October 2016..

can anyone help ?

A year on from buying the Combo (Sept'15), I was getting more than the usual black smoke coming from the exhaust.

I had the van serviced and it did run better for about 3 weeks. However, the black smoke has returned and it seems to happen more frequently in 2nd into 3rd gear change. I can feel the van pull then it will very slightly jolt and pick up speed again.

Whilst travelling on the A12, I decided to put in forth and give it a good run. Then the 'service / transmission' warning light came on. It has since disappeard when ignition is switched on (??)

It seems to me that it could be the EGR valve or Injectors that need attention, but why does no mechanic seem to agree with me ?

I know its not a 20 minute job, but Im not experienced enough to dabble with the job myself.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Regards

Have you had a full diagnostic check carried out ?

It could be the EGR or injectors, yes. But it could also be a sensor fault, or a myriad of any other possibilities.

Without some sort of diagnostic check, you're playing 'parts bingo'.
