Ford Focus 1.6 Auto 2003 - Car doors automatically lock - bluenun

Hi,

When I get out of the car, the doors lock themselves after about 60 seconds.

I worry that I will leave the keys in the car one day and get them locked in.

Any idea why it auto locks the doors? Is there any way I can stop that from happening?

Does the roof/interior light come on when you open the drivers door.?

I just went to check and no it does not come on when I open the door.

The button was in the far left of 3 positions.

I moved it to the mid position and the light does come on when the door is opened.

It has not locked the doors, so that seems to have sorted it out, thanks,

So, is it supposed to lock itself if the internal light is turned to off when the door is opened?

No,it does not matter where the roof switch is .I wanted to confirm that the door open contact on the drivers door pillar is working.If the issue continues,I suspect there is a problem with one of the front door latches.
