Citroen Xantia - vibration in a Xantia - DCmusic

I have a Xantia Estate 2.oHDi with 147k on the clock. Its always been lucked after but has peeling laquer, a few bubbles on the wheel arches and a tiny hole where the rear door shuts (near the wheel arch mechanic says £20 to stick a patch over it). It also needs about £250 - £300 spending on it for the MOT. Got it from a local nloke who moved to South of France, dorve it there then realised it was not going to work with a RHD in a LHD country and drove it back 3 months later to pick up a french reg car in the UK.

Question 1 Appears to be a rare beast now so am wondering what to do with it.

I have just got money back on a duf 2.0Hdi Picasso and had this Xantia as a stop gap. However having had the fight to get money back from a dealer selling me this rubbish pic I am wary of anything else.

Question 2 It has a vibration at 70mph which is most present when criusing. It goes away if you release the accelerator and isn't as bad under load. Car has lots of power. Yesterday it surged, as if I was putting my foot down then releasing it, then power on again, then of. Did this about 5 times and then behaved itself. The vibration is worse when its fully warmed up. The MOT is due up in August so any ideas what this vibration, flutter, surge is? It happens as soon as you back off to very light power. Also can be felt at lower speeds too though not as bad. Engine has loads of power under load, and is fine on fuel.

As its nice to drive (and I don't care about the paint) I am willing to put some money into it but not enough to turn it into a money pit.
