Ford Fiesta 1.25 2006 3Dr - Juddering Engine - Cookie Monster

I bought this car recently (Mid August 2014) and the car in itself is fine.I brought it from a main dealer for some peace of mind.

However when i stop at lights and the engine is idling is seems to intermittently judder.It is not to the stage of cutting out but it is annoying.

I had a look at the engine and have noticed the air intake pipe which connects to the side of the engine does notconnect completely as a tang has broken off.

Could it be this or does it just need a damn good service?

If the air pipe between filter and air valve on manifold has broken, air is bypassing the filter and airflow meter which is telling ecu less air is going in reducing mixture accordingly, and its taking in dirty air.

so best get it replaced

While fairly reliable if serviced correctly, I had one of these for three years, another thing to watch for at 40,000 miles is the lower radiator hose perishing. Luckily it's quite an easy job, but annoying if the car overheats in traffic like mine did.
